Chicago's Jeffery Pub Sets Minimum Age Killed in Hit-and-Run Nearby

The Jeffrey Pub, a popular gay bar in Chicago's South Shore community, imposed an age limit and curtailed hip-hop music after three patrons died and a fourth was injured earlier this month.
Authorities said the victim got into an argument in front of the facility in the early hours of August 14, and the driver punched the man. The suspect, Tavis Dunbar, 34, was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
In his Facebook post, the bar announced that all patrons must be 30 years of age or older and that anyone wishing to enter will have her ID scanned. Paper IDs or IDs presented on mobile phones will not be accepted. Additionally, the bar plays less hip hop music.
Three days after his hit-and-run, Jeffrey his pub staff sent a message to the community, expressing their grief and acknowledging the staff who took immediate action.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this senseless and abominable act," the post read. "Our hearts go out to the families of the innocent and those who have been hurt and affected. Our priority is to come together as a community to heal this terrible tragedy. "
The bar was closed the weekend after the tragedy, but has since reopened.
Jeffery Pub has pledged to work with the Chicago Police Department to "implement all necessary safety measures."
