INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minnesota - A resort owner was airlifted to the hospital after a fire broke out at a houseboat marina in Rainey Lake on Wednesday night, after an unsuccessful attempt to save his mother.

Northerner Houseboat owner Vonet L. Mills, 51, is in critical condition and has been taken to a trauma facility. There was no Thursday update on her condition. According to a news release from the Couchiching County Emergency Response Center, the International Falls Fire Department found the body of Lavonne S. The 12-year-old girl was also taken to Rainey Lake Her Medical Center on Wednesday night and was in stable condition on Thursday.

Her two firefighters, who were being treated for heat stroke and dehydration, were later released.

The fire was reported shortly after 5pm. Wednesday. Firefighters battled the blaze during the night and cleared the blaze around 3 a.m. Thursday.

According to a press release, Hershberger's body will be taken to the Midwest Coroner's Office in the Twin Cities.

The Minnesota Fire Department arrived at the scene late Wednesday and began an investigation. Authorities believe the fire was likely accidental, but an investigation is ongoing, the release said.
